Playing Scholar's Rhyme Grime Game

Puzzle Page

May I say, one day many moons ago, in a land where everything simply must rhyme on a dime, there was a sudden hassle in the castle. Who could know what made it so?  That being said, it was an awful pain from winter rain through summer shine  to come up with rhyme all the time.  To make matters worse everythng had to be in verse.  If that weren't bad enough, seeing King Macduff tricked by a scholar unstrict was simply too much I would say forgetting to rhyme, something I fail to remember to do from time to time

To add a new twist to the name game, Macduff's tough insisted that not only was one now required to rhyme, one must be mired in slime even when doing mime.  As if that were possible when eating key lime pie, by and by, but then everyone knows that you shouldn't speak with your mouth full, while wearing a sweater knitted from a material that was certainly not pure wool and that is no bull.

The head tough was what passed for scholar.  It was enough to make one hot under the collar.  But wait there's more in store.  The head tough whose name was Scholar, could you believe it, had come up with a new demand. In the good old days one had to rhyme in verse but now Head Tough  made things even worse.  Now one had not only to make up a rhyme one had to give another word with a hint as to it's rhyme and do it every single time or it was off to jail you went without fail

Let's say that you had used the word pig.  In the good old days you would only have had to add big and you would be done.  No more I'm afraid to say is anything quite that gay.  You could still use your pig and your big but now you had to add something more.  It goes like this:  Big is to small as short is to __.    That was not such a tall order now, was it?

At afternoon teas if you please, King Macduff would have Scholar spit out a teaser or two.   Not even heaven would be able to help you if you could not turn the teaser into a pleaser.

Not much is known about this old civilization but a few shards probably of playing cards have been discovered of late.  See if you can fill in the blanks.  When you've done that go to the
